Tommy is a 2nd generation barber that has been cutting hair “legally” since 2004, but as a kid he was always messing around in his dad’s barbershop. When he joined the Army he was appalled at how brutal and impersonal the military barbers were, so he bought some clippers and began cutting hair in the barracks. This is when he realized just how much a person appreciates it when you take the time to provide a quality service, even if it’s something as simple as a crew cut.

Dillon comes from a family of barbers and has continued that tradition by joining the team at Trust Thy Barber. He’s got a knack for blurry fades and has possibly dethroned his old man as “mullet master” of the shop. Dillon blurs the line between old-school barber and high-end stylist by combing a two year education in cosmetology and  working full time as an integral member of the Trust Thy Barber team. With an understanding of hair shapes, line theory and traditional barbering, Dillon can perform a wide variety of haircuts and is taking his career to the next level.

Jessica’s parents retired to Myrtle Beach, so she moved here to be closer to them. A true maven of the industry, she has a barber license, cosmetology license & instructor license! Needless to say, she’s equally proficient with a straight razor or color brush – and can teach anyone how to do the same! She had to move here in the midst of a training block at her school and her students respected her so much that they invited her to their graduation when they finished their education, which she gladly attended. In her spare time Jessica enjoys riding her motorcycle, going to music festivals and hanging out with friends.

Joe’s great-grandfather was an accomplished barber and had several successful shops across NYC during his lifetime. The Pavone family business has since moved on from NYC and the barber industry, but cutting hair is something that Joe has always felt drawn to. Five years ago he and his dad were clients of the shop and after working for his parents for a time, he decided to reach out and see if we would take him on as an apprentice. One year later and suffice to say, Joe is a barber in every sense of the word – his passion for barbering is evident from the moment you sit in his chair, and the quality of his work speaks for itself.

In addition to barbering, Desiree loves music, traveling and food. Her favorite destination so far? Costa Rica. Originally from the west coast, she attended the Paul Mitchell School of Hair & Beauty in Salt Lake City, Utah. Early on in her training she realized that barbering was her true passion, so she focused her talents there and since 2011 has built up quite the portfolio. Desiree owned her own shop for two years but a new baby and other family obligations meant she had to let it go and move to Myrtle Beach. She might be new to the area, but make no mistake – Desiree brings over a decade of experience and the skills, passion and dedication to fit right in with the rest of the Trust Thy Barber team.

CJ is the embodiment of “don’t talk about it – be about it”. Even before the state officially approved his apprentice license, CJ has been at the shop watching, learning and absorbing as much knowledge as he can from the other barbers on our team. A signed and touring producer from New York, CJ has learned to appreciate a variety of artforms and barbering is another outlet for him to express his creativity. The number one skill we require all of our staff to have is one we like to call “give-a-shit-edness” – and he has that in spades. When you sit in CJ’s chair, you can be sure he’s going to use all of his creative & technical skills to make sure you leave the shop looking fresh and feeling like a million bucks!
